But I find it the most curious thing that so many of you do. Please explain to me why I am so wrong and why you love the little furry things.

"wrong?" is it wrong for someone to like something different than what i like? no.

can i explain why i like them? sure. they're cute, smart (in a socially-unacceptable way), funny, proud, and they've been enslaved by humankind into utter dependence upon us, made into weak versions of their feral cousins, now almost completely unable to fend for themselves in the wild. if nothing else, pity them! especially the young ones... :(

What about white tigers?

bdhsdSep 27, 2005 7:35am
hm. i guess since this is the kitten forum, i was assuming you meant domesticated cats. white tigers ARE cats, you're correct, and of course much of what i said about "cats" does not apply to them.

now if you're talking about white tigers that slightly unbalanced people try to keep as "pets" and raise in their homes ~ and you're inquiring as to why people like them... well. all i can say about that is, though they ARE cute, the idiots who think that means they're also cuddly pretty much deserve it when they get randomly mauled.

I love randomly mauling people, even if they don't try to keep me in their home! But seriously, I like cats because they don't drool on me, they don't bark, don't need constant attention, and provide good entertainment when given a catnip mousie. They are kinda cute I guess, but I kinda admire their regality(is that a word? lol). :)

I agree with bdhsd though. I would never assume that someone is "wrong" for not liking cats, just as I wouldn't want someone to tell me I'm wrong for liking them. It pretty much boils down to whatever floats your boat :)

hm. yes, i understand what you mean about the random maulings now.

and your cat doesn't drool on you?! lol! i've never owned a cat that didn't start drooling in the middle of a heavy petting session. ;) hehe. silly but true.

I have four cats--two drool, two don't. I recently eavesdropped on a conversation two men were having about pets (strange but true), when I heard one state he had a cat and a dog and described the cat as "half as much work and twice as much fun." Lola =^..^=

I love kittens because they are enormously appealing. They are exceptionally cute and there is a certain vulnerability in their eyes which says "Take care of me". They are clean, quiet, loving and cuddly. My last cat lived for eighteen years and knew everything I said for the last few years of her life. There's very few things on earth that feel as safe as a cat curled up in your lap, purring.

we like cats because they're cute and they just make them selves look like they own the world, and cats are calm inosent creatuers.

I always wanted pets growing up but was not allowed. When I finally allowed myself to get a pet, I wanted something with an interesting attitutde. Dogs are too clingy in my opinion (licking you, jumping on you, etc.). That drives me up the wall. Cats walk a fine line between "love me" and "put the food in the bowl and walk away". I love that about the little guys. I have three now and would not have it any other way.
